Seat Alhambra Key Problems
Seat's MPV jumbo family is among the best in its class when it comes down to resales value. And with a brand new model available, it's better than ever.
There are many reasons why the key fob may not work properly, including the battery being dead damage to the receiver module, or signal interference. This article will guide you through the steps to get it working again.
Water Damage
If your seat alhambra key fob is able to withstand a wash cycle or a bath in the ocean or pool then it probably has an amazing waterproof chip. However, be careful not to make this a routine because exposure to water in excess increases the risk of the key fob being damaged. If your key fob ceases to functioning after exposure to rain or clean tap water, take out the battery and wipe the electronic component with a paper towel. Let it dry completely before replacing the battery. In case of exposure to soapy or salty water it is recommended that you clean the chip with alcohol, isopropyl or electronic cleaner prior to attempting to put the battery back in.
Faulty Receiver Module
If the key fob does not lock or unlock after you have replaced the button cell battery it is possible that the receiver module has an issue. The good news is that this is a simple and cost-effective fix. You can disconnect the battery for just a few minutes (first take off the negative cable and press the horn button numerous times) to drain any residual electricity and then reconnect it in reverse order e.g. positive first, then negative.
ESP Warning Light – If the ESP symbol blinks, it is normal. It is a sign that you are driving over terrain with poor traction. This could be caused by snow, gravel or surface water. If the ESP light is constantly flashing, it is a sign there is a fault in the system. It is possible to identify the problem by using an iCarsoft i908 seat OBD code reader kit. It will give you an in-depth description of the fault.
Dead Coin Battery
One of the most frequent reasons for the seat alhambra keys to stop working is a dead coin battery. The key fob is powered by a small button-cell battery. It should be replaced with a replacement that is the same size, voltage, and specification as the original. When replacing the battery on the key fob, remove all metal clips and ensure that the contacts on the key fob are clean and corrosion-free.
If the key fob has been exposed to water, like soapy or rain, it's recommended that you remove the battery and clean the electronic chip using isopropyl alcohol or an electronic cleaner prior to inserting the new battery. The chip is sensitive to moisture and may be permanently damaged. If the key fob doesn't function after replacing the battery, it may be necessary for you to replace the key fob.
Faulty Receiver Module

If your key fob has stopped working after replacing the battery, but it did not perform, or stopped working suddenly the receiver module may have encountered a problem. The receiver module receives the radio frequency signals from your key fob's remote and transforms them into electrical signals which are then used by other modules inside the car.
If the receiver module has developed a fault and is unable to respond to any of the commands issued by your remote key fob. In this case you will require a dealer to reprogramme the key fob, and also install an additional receiver.
The key fob is encased with rubber to stop water from leaking into the electronic chip. If seat alhambra key programming dip the key fob into salted or soapy water it could cause damage to the chip. If your key fob isn't able to work, you can try cleaning the chip using isopropyl or electronic cleaner.
If the keys are in a pair but the receiver module has developed a fault, you can try restarting all electronics on board by disconnecting the 12 volt battery for a few minutes. Connect the battery in reverse (negative cable to positive first). This resets all the electronic components on board and restore their functionality.
Faulty electronic chip
The key fob is equipped with tiny electronic chips which transmits a signal the receiver module whenever the key is used. If the signal doesn't match the one stored by the car, the immobilizer will disable the engine and prevent the vehicle from starting. However, if the key fob isn't functioning and you cannot reprogram it the issue could be due a damaged chip.
The chip in the key fob could need to be replaced to allow it to function again. The most effective method for doing this is by removing the key from its housing and then using a pin or needle to contact each of the metal retaining clips. If the clips are corroded, or damaged, you'll need to replace them to allow the remote control to work. Make sure that any replacement batteries have the same voltage, size and specifications as the original.

It could fail and cause problems, and then get stuck in a particular setting. Similarly, the infotainment system has also been known to malfunction and freeze screens.
